Our partner farms in Kyoto are part of tightly knit cooperatives that trace their agricultural records back hundreds of years. In a country where only 12% of the land is used for farming, every inch of soil is treasured. This limited space has nurtured a deep cultural respect for the land. The farmers we work with maintain some of the world’s most meticulous agricultural practices, guided by environmental regulations that are among the strictest on the planet.

More than just preserving the land, these cooperatives are proactive, working closely with scientists and local governments to regenerate soil health, prevent pollution, and ensure the longevity of their ecosystems.
